According to experts, the electric vehicle market will continue to grow gradually in 2025. In January of this year alone, over 1,000 new electric cars were registered in Poland, an increase of 0.4% compared to 2024. It is expected that the number of electric vehicles on the streets of Polish cities may increase further, as purchasing them will become significantly easier. This is because the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiŚ) has launched the “NaszEauto” program, allocating 1.6 billion zł for it.
However, the new program excludes companies, which may slow down market growth. Only time will tell the results.
The subsidy under the “NaszEauto” program applies to new M1 category electric vehicles with a mileage of no more than 6,000 km. Importantly, the cars must not be registered before purchase.
The maximum cost of a vehicle eligible for government support is 225,000 zł (excluding VAT).
Interestingly, it is possible to purchase not only new vehicles but also demonstration models, such as those provided for test drives in showrooms.
The amount of support depends on several factors: whether you are an individual, a business owner, or have a large family, as well as whether you plan to dispose of an old vehicle and your income level.
- For individuals, the basic subsidy amount for purchasing an electric vehicle is 18,750 zł.
- If you decide to dispose of an old internal combustion vehicle (category M1) that has been owned for at least three years and was scrapped no earlier than February 1, 2020, the amount of support will increase by 10,000 zł.
- If your income is below 135,000 zł per year — an additional payment of 11,250 zł is available.
- Large families can receive a subsidy of 30,000 zł. If they dispose of an old vehicle, the amount increases by 5,000 zł. Additionally, another 5,000 zł is available for low-income families.
- Leasing or long-term rental also qualifies for the program. In this case, the basic subsidy amount is 30,000 zł. If you dispose of an old vehicle, the subsidy increases: by 5,000 zł for individuals and by 10,000 zł for entrepreneurs.
As explained by NFOŚiGW President Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak: “We aim not only to support the purchase of electric vehicles but also to encourage owners to dispose of internal combustion vehicles that they no longer use.”
To apply for a subsidy under the “NaszEauto” program, you need to follow a few simple steps:
- Choose an electric vehicle. As mentioned, its cost should not exceed 225,000 zł (excluding VAT), and the mileage should be 6,000 km.
- Obtain liability insurance and additional AC (comprehensive) insurance. If you are a business owner, the policy must indicate that the vehicle is for commercial purposes.
- If you are leasing, you should sign a contract. It must be for at least 2 years. Before applying, you also need to make a down payment and sign the vehicle transfer document.
Important:
Applications can only be submitted online through the Financing Application Generator.
If you have been considering switching to an electric vehicle, the “NaszEauto” program is a great opportunity to make that transition with government support. It is not only a way to save but also a significant contribution to environmental protection. For more details about the program, visit the official website.
