Forests play a crucial role in the carbon cycle in nature and, consequently, in reducing its levels in the atmosphere. As is well known, they absorb and store carbon through the process of photosynthesis. For example, terrestrial ecosystems around the world absorb about 11 gigatons of CO2 annually, while emissions of this gas are much higher — 36 gigatons per year. Additionally, each hectare of forest can absorb 4–5 tons of carbon dioxide.
Notably, Polish forests absorb approximately 40 million tons of CO2 annually and store over 1 billion tons of carbon. Therefore, it is essential to preserve forests and reduce deforestation. After all, this causes irreparable harm to ecosystems and disrupts the natural balance.
One of the solutions is to reduce waste. For example, using electronic receipts helps decrease paper consumption and other resources.
Since 2017, the e-Paragony application has been available in Poland, allowing users to receive and store electronic receipts instead of paper ones. However, despite its convenience, it has not gained significant popularity. Therefore, in the near future, the Polish government plans to launch a large-scale PR campaign to ensure that more people learn about this opportunity.
e-Paragony is a free and secure application for managing expenses, which allows users to receive and store electronic fiscal receipts. All data is stored only on the user’s device or in the cloud, ensuring complete anonymity.
It is worth noting that any entrepreneur can issue electronic receipts, regardless of the industry or the size of the business. This is convenient for both online stores and traditional ones. Even companies exempt from using fiscal cash registers can take advantage of electronic receipts.
Moreover, since September 2023, the HUB Paragonowy system has been operational in Poland. With this system, cash registers supporting electronic receipt functions allow sellers to send receipts directly to the application on the user’s smartphone.
Using electronic receipts is easy and straightforward. First, install the application, such as e-Paragony. After that, you will receive a unique barcode (KID). When you go shopping, show the code to the cashier — the receipt will be uploaded to the system and can be downloaded to your smartphone within seconds. Notably, all electronic receipts in the HUB Paragonowy system are stored for 30 days. Of course, paper receipts are still available if needed.
Finally, note that at the moment, installing the application is not mandatory, and its use remains voluntary.
