From visa to citizenship…

Poland is a popular destination for work and life. Stability and the opportunity to gain European experience attract more and more foreigners. Moreover, the Polish labor market needs specialists of various profiles. However, employing foreigners, unlike locals, requires additional formalities. This article will help you navigate the employment process in Poland.

Hiring an employee is a standard procedure for every employer. It’s crucial to follow the correct process for documenting and hiring the employee to avoid fines and administrative liability.

The employee hiring process includes many stages, the main ones being:

– Employee recruitment.

– Collection of necessary documentation and the employee undergoing a medical examination.

– Signing the employment contract.

– Creation of the employee’s personnel file and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS/BHP) briefing.

– Notifying ZUS about hiring the employee, if necessary.

At the initial stage, the candidate provides the employer with basic information about themselves, usually in the form of a resume (CV). If the decision to hire is made, it is required to obtain more detailed information from the employee: passport details, place of residence within the country, PESEL number, as well as information and documents based on which the foreigner will reside in Poland: visa-free travel or visa, residence permit, Karta Polaka, and others. Hiring Guide

After the employer has verified the grounds for stay in Poland and obtained the necessary work permits, they can proceed to sign the employment contract. In the Republic of Poland, there are two main categories of work contracts:

– Employment contract (Umowa o pracę).

– Civil law contracts (Umowy cywilnoprawne). These categories include various types of agreements.
